Earlier today at Pocahontas County High School, a belt on a compressor heating unit in the band room malfunctioned. As a precaution, the school initiated a fire safety drill and evacuated students to the auditorium while the fire department was contacted. The fire department has since assessed the situation and confirmed that there is no ongoing risk. All students have safely returned to their classrooms, and normal operations have resumed. At this time, the school’s phone system is temporarily down but is expected to be restored to full service shortly.

Students could cheer on our high school girls at the state tournament basketball game or relax with a movie while we delivered personalized hot chocolate. Sleeves created by Ms. Hughes and our 7th grade students kindness projects.
If you would like your child to opt out of the new required CyberSwat from the state, the form must come back signed by tomorrow. If you opt out, there will be an alternate assignment as this is a requirement.

Good morning copperheads! Just a couple announcements this morning, students that were in school yesterday were given progress reports for the third nine weeks. Some teachers sent home detailed progress reports that students could review with you and potentially return for extra credit/grade. If you have any questions, please reach out to teachers. For those who have been out sick and absent, please make sure that you turn in makeup work and excuses. We also sent home a Rada catalog that you may order from or you may use the online link that is provided on our Facebook page with discount code. Finally just another reminder that we will have our LSIC meeting today at 3:30. We hope you all have a wonderful day! Thanks for supporting your students in our school!
The middle school county social studies fair will be rescheduled due to delay tomorrow. A new date will be shared as soon as it is finalized. This gives you an extra day or two to make minor board changes or to complete your bibliography. Good luck to our contestants!
