Pocahontas County Schools would like to remind families that students entering 7th and 12th grades are required to provide proof of the following immunizations before attending school:

These vaccines help protect students from serious vaccine-preventable diseases, including bacterial meningitis and pertussis (whooping cough).

Please ensure your student has received these immunizations and that documentation has been submitted prior to the start of the school year. Students who have not met these requirements may not be permitted to attend school until documentation is provided.

Families may obtain these vaccines through their primary care provider or the Pocahontas County Health Department.

Due to a planned MonPower power outage affecting the Buckeye and Marlinton area on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the Pocahontas County Schools Central Office will temporarily relocate operations to Marlinton Middle School for the day.

As a result of the outage, telephone service for all Pocahontas County Schools locations throughout the county will be unavailable during the planned interruption.

Due to needing to meet deadlines, we are asking that you come pick up yearbooks by tomorrow at 3:00. If not, you will have to arrange with front office to do it at a later point and extras will be for sale at beginning of next school year. Thank you!

Good afternoon 7th grade parents. We mailed home placement recommendations for Algebra 1 next school year for those students who have applied. Please return these to MMS by July 1 using the addressed envelope. Unfortunately, we do not have enough numbers for Spanish 1 but will be offering a Spanish Exploratory. Thank you and have a great summer!

Yearbooks arrived today! If you ordered and would like to pick up, please do so before Thursday at 2:30. We did order a few extra. Also if you didn't receive your report card or awards, they are also here. Thanks!

Just a reminder that tomorrow we will be having field day. Please bring an extra set of clothes to change and a towel, apply sunscreen before coming, and money if you'd like to buy an ice cream from Real Whirled Ice Cream Co. Schedule will vary depending on weather but we will proceed with field day. Band concert and awards day will be on Friday at 8:15 in gymnasium. We will also be handing out report cards then.

Good morning. Unfortunately due to weather, students won't be traveling today for the trip. However, we plan to continue our plans at MMS and hope you'll still participate if eligible. Bring your item to tie dye and money for the ice cream truck. Go Copperheads and congratulations on earning the end of the year reward!

Hello families, This is a reminder that students attending the PBIS field trip tomorrow should come prepared for a fun day. Please have your child bring an extra change of clothes and a towel, as there may be activities where they could get wet. Students should also bring a plain white T-shirt or another light-colored item they would like to tie-dye during the trip. Also, if students would like to buy an ice cream from the Real Whirled Ice Cream Co - they will be coming to either Stillwell or to MMS, depending on weather. I would suggest no more than $10, depending on what your student would like to purchase. Please note that if the weather does not cooperate, we have an alternate indoor plan in place so students will still be able to enjoy the day. We look forward to a great trip! Thank you for your support, and we’ll see everyone tomorrow. Have a wonderful evening.
