“Official letter from the West Virginia Department of Education, dated March 2026, addressed to parents and guardians. The letter explains the West Virginia General Summative Assessment (WVGSA) for students in grades 3 through 8, administered online in spring 2026. It describes tested subjects including English language arts, ELA writing, mathematics, and science for grades 5 and 8. Parents are directed to the ParentVUE website to view assessment scores and to the WVDE website for additional information. The letter encourages families to support students during testing and is signed by Michele L. Blatt, State Superintendent of Schools.”

The buses have left Charleston and they plan to stop for a short break for snack. Their ETA is 4:30 and if things change, we will send another call. They will not be back to catch buses so they will need to be picked up by families.

The field trip is tomorrow in Charleston for the Dirty Birds baseball game. Buses will leave Marlinton Middle School promptly at 7:00AM. School breakfast will be provided. Pizza and drinks are provided at the stadium. Students may purchase additional items from the concession stand. Students may want to bring sunscreen lotion and a jacket. Depending on time, we may stop at a fast food restaurant or convenience store on the way home. We will post pick up times on Facebook and through robo call.

Marlinton Middle School placed 3rd out of 10 teams today during the Middle School Battle of the Books competition against Eastern Greenbrier Middle School teams and Western Greenbrier Middle School teams. We are so proud of the hard work our students put in this year! This was only our 2nd year competing in the competition.
