📚✨ Learning never stops at Pocahontas County Schools!

The PCS Teacher Academy officially launched yesterday, bringing educators together for a day of growth, collaboration, and innovation. Teachers explored Specially Designed Instruction and other topics aimed at strengthening instruction and supporting all learners. Our educational staff will continue with a variety of learning sessions up until our students arrive.

📢 Attention Parents of 7th and 12th Grade Students

Pocahontas County Schools would like to remind families that students entering 7th and 12th grades are required to provide proof of the following immunizations before attending school:

✅ Tdap Vaccine
✅ Meningococcal (Meningitis) Vaccine

These vaccines help protect students from serious vaccine-preventable diseases, including bacterial meningitis and pertussis (whooping cough).

Please ensure your student has received these immunizations and that documentation has been submitted prior to the start of the school year. Students who have not met these requirements may not be permitted to attend school until documentation is provided.

Families may obtain these vaccines through their primary care provider or the Pocahontas County Health Department.

Pocahontas County Schools announcement: Two Pocahontas County Board of Education policies are available for public comment: Policy 2371, HOPE Scholarship Program, and Policy 9270, Home School Instruction. The public comment period ends August 28, 2026. Comments may be submitted through the Policy page on the district website or at https://tinyurl.com/PCS-Policies.

📚✏️ MMS School Supply List for the 2026-2027 School Year ✏️📚

As you prepare for the first day of school, please make sure students bring the following supplies:

✅ Pencils
✅ Two-pocket folders (7)
✅ Notebook(s)
✅ Colored pencils
✅ Pencil pouch
✅ Water bottle (not glass)

Please note: Do not purchase binder bags, as they do not fit in MMS lockers.

If purchasing school supplies presents a hardship, MMS has supplies available to support students in need. Families who would like to donate extra supplies may send them with their child on the first day of school.

Due to a planned MonPower power outage affecting the Buckeye and Marlinton area on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the Pocahontas County Schools Central Office will temporarily relocate operations to Marlinton Middle School for the day.

As a result of the outage, telephone service for all Pocahontas County Schools locations throughout the county will be unavailable during the planned interruption.

Individuals with urgent or emergent concerns may contact the district by calling the Marlinton Middle School fax line at 304-799-7278. Community members may also email the appropriate staff member, and school personnel will respond as soon as possible.

Pocahontas County Schools appreciates the public's patience and understanding as MonPower completes this scheduled work. Normal operations and phone service are expected to resume once electrical service is restored.

Due to needing to meet deadlines, we are asking that you come pick up yearbooks by tomorrow at 3:00. If not, you will have to arrange with front office to do it at a later point and extras will be for sale at beginning of next school year. Thank you!

Good afternoon 7th grade parents. We mailed home placement recommendations for Algebra 1 next school year for those students who have applied. Please return these to MMS by July 1 using the addressed envelope. Unfortunately, we do not have enough numbers for Spanish 1 but will be offering a Spanish Exploratory.
