Just a couple reminders - Pocahontas County Schools are having 3 hour early outs today and tomorrow. Also we are having a required basketball family meeting tonight - girls at 5:30 and boys at 6:00. Please come visit us on Saturday for our quarter auction - doors open at 3 and auction starts promptly at 4. Thanks and have a great day!

Just a reminder that tomorrow is picture day at MMS. If your student did not get home with their envelope and you wish to order, you can contact picket fence directly and they will allow you to order. All students will have pictures taken as we will use these in the yearbook. Thank you.

📢Important Announcement 📢

The Pocahontas County Schools Board of Education meeting scheduled for 11/4/2025 has been cancelled.

The LSIC presentations for HES and GBEMS will be moved to the 12/2/2025 meeting.

Our next regularly scheduled meeting will be November 18, 2025.

Eligibility is determined by reviewing spring state/nationally normed summative assessment results each fall. For example, students who met the "Standard of Excellence" for 2025-2026 will be recognized in the fall of 2026-2027 school year. General Requirements Students in grades 3-8 (3rd grade students will be recognized at the beginning of 4th grade) Student in grades 3-8 must attain an "Exceeds Standards" on the West Virginia General Summative Assessment in one or all of the categories listed below. This assessment is completed in the spring and students will be recognized in the fall of the following school year: Math (3rd-8th) Reading/Language Arts (3rd-8th) Science (5th, 8th - tested only in 5th & 8th)

The Board of Education meeting scheduled for October 21, 2025, has been cancelled due to a technical issue with the agenda posting.

✅ A special meeting will be scheduled for October 28, 2025, to ensure transparency and allow time for review of the agenda.

📄 The updated agenda will be posted on the PCS website today.
