Just a couple of updates for the upcoming week...CONGRATULATIONS to our teacher of the year, Erin Murphy and our service personnel of the year, Felicia Smith. Also, donuts and money are due Monday, spring photos are Tuesday and there will be no school on Friday for students.
We want to give a HUGE, heartfelt thank you to all the students, parents, and families who took time out of their evening to join us for the Family Literature Night. We were so pleased as we had close to 30 students stop by this evening and around 60 people all together!
We were so happy to watch our students talk to their families and bond over reading. There is a joy in watching students be proud of what they are doing in school. Each student who attended was able to leave with a book tonight for their own library at home.
Families, be on the lookout for the books which will move from the final four to the last TWO books in our bracket.

Your middle school student will be coming home with the following paper this evening. Marlinton Middle School will be sponsoring a “Family Literature Night” on Wednesday: March 20th, 2024 from 4:00-6:00. Come hangout with your child while enjoying refreshments, engaging in our Reading Madness, and seeing some things happening in our school. Your family can enter a drawing to win a prize provided by Communities in Schools. We hope to see you there!
You DO NOT have to be there the whole time. Allow for about 30 minutes of fun when you come.
Please return the slip to Ms. Murphy or Mrs. Hughes by Monday: March 18th, 2024. This will help Mrs. Wagner with the amount of refreshments to provide.

MMS Science Stars
After school tutoring will be Tuesday instead of Wednesday this week. After school drama will be Thursday. Great job to 8th grade on testing today. 7th will test tomorrow and 6th on Wednesday.
Please remember to participate in our Krispy Kreme fundraiser. The class to sell the most will receive a reward. This goes towards our students and school, so any profit it helpful. Thank you for participating!
Three-Hour Delay for Monday, March 11, 2024
Just a reminder that the summative assessment starts tomorrow for writing. 8th grade students will test tomorrow. We will be able to do testing as long as we have a full day or a delay.
7th grade will test Tuesday and 6th grade on Wednesday. Please make sure to get a good nights rest and eat a good breakfast. If you have to be absent on your day of testing, please reach out to the office. Good luck - you got this!

With March 1st being tomorrow, we would like to introduce our 16 novels for “reading madness” at Marlinton Middle School. The Pocahontas County Reading Council has worked hard to think of ways to promote reading across the county. We can’t wait for our students to mix some of our favorite novels at school with a little bit of March basketball.
Students will get the opportunity to vote for their favorite novels to move through the bracket! We will be following the March Madness tournament in our own unique way. Stay posted as our students vote to move novels to the Elite 8!
Due to potential icy conditions throughout the county tomorrow morning, all Pocahontas County Schools will operate on a three-hour delay on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
A couple of updates for MMS -
The county social studies fair is tomorrow at PCHS during school day.
After school tutoring will be Tuesday/Thursday this week if staffing allows.
There will be a three hour early out on Wednesday for staff to have a required faculty senate meeting.
On Wednesday, the sasquatch ski program will leave MMS at 12:30 and return to wellness that night at regular scheduled pick-up time.
